Study Visits at the MAX IV Laboratory

All visiting groups are given a presentation of the MAX IV Laboratory. Most groups also choose to add a guided tour in the experimental hall.
At the laboratory, visiting scientists from all over the world are performing their experiments, 24 hours a day, six days a week. Not to interfere with the scientists work, we handle one visiting group at a time.
Make your reservation well in advance.

Group Size

We easily manage groups up to 20 visitors with no special arrangements.
Guided tours are performed in groups of 8 visitors; larger visiting groups are divided into smaller ones.
Academic level recommended for visitors: High School level or higher.

A Guided Tour in the Experimental Hall

Visiting our national laboratory is a unique experience. Research groups are setting up their experiments to use the special high energy light we produce with the machine. Each experimental station is designed and specialized for certain types of experiments. We produce light for the researchers, 24 hours a day, six days a week, 40 weeks a year.

The Injector and Inside the Storage Rings MAX I, MAX II and MAX III

Monday mornings between 10:00-12:00, the machine - the injector and the storage rings - is accessible for guided tours. For this opportunity we give priority to visiting groups from universities with focus on physics.

Radiation Protection Area

The experimental hall is a radiation protection area. The area is safe.
