MAX-lab

Time: Tuesday - Wednesday

Coordinator: Erik Wallén, MAX-lab

The scope of the workshop is to present an overview of existing and future insertion devices at synchrotron light sources.

The topics of the workshop includes:

- Existing insertion devices at synchrotron light sources.

- Plans for future installations of insertion devices at synchrotron light sources.

- Research and development activities on novel insertion devices.

- Related projects, like fast polarization switching, chicanes and canted undulators.

- Operational aspects of the insertion devices, like top-up operation with small gap in vacuum undulators and elliptically polarising undulators, beam induced heat-load, electron beam and photon beam stability issues, reliability, operational cost and quenching of superconducting IDs, radiation safety, and magnet degradation due to radiation.

- Manufacturing aspects of insertion devices.
