XAFS for beginnersWorkshop, MAX-lab, Lund, June 11-20, 2007
Program
We invite you to participate in a workshop for beginners in the field of x-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) data collection and analysis. The workshop will be held at MAX-lab, June 11 - 20, 2007, and will consist of talks and hands-on exercises. The aim of the first three days is to give a comprehensive introduction for tentative XAFS users at beamline I811, and to introduce the basic concepts of XAFS experiment design, theory and data analysis. The following five days are mainly dedicated to XAFS theory and data analysis using the software EXAFSPAK, but will also give an introduction to a more advanced software, such as GNXAS.
Registration and Payment
Registration is made on the MAX-lab web before June 1, 2007. The workshop is free of charge. The number of participants are limited to 20, so please register as soon as possible.
Travel and Accommodation
Participants have to arrange travels and accommodation on their own. Here is some information on how to get to MAX-lab and where to find a hotel.
Computers
Participants are expected to bring a laptop computer for the analysis exercises with the following specifications.
- Either MS Windows with X windows server package (e.g. Cygwin, Hummingbird or X-WIN32), Mac OSX, or Linux.
- EXAFSPAK installed.
- Wireless network connection is preferred, but network cables will be available at MAX-lab.
- A power supply!
Please contact us if you do not have access to such a computer.
