Workshop Start Page

We would like to cordially invite you to our workshop "The Challenge of Ambient Conditions: Swedish-German Workshop on In Situ X-ray Techniques", which will be held at Rosersberg Castle in between Uppsala and Stockholm on 6-7 October 2011. The workshop is open to any researcher, including PhD students, interested in in situ techniques.

Scope of the Workshop

For several reasons traditional X-ray methods for the investigation of materials have been limited to highly artificial environments, which are unable to mirror the conditions of real environments. For example in catalysis, essentially all soft X-ray work has been carried out in at least high vacuum conditions, while hard X-ray studies have been carried out in static ambient conditions very different from the operation condition of a real catalyst. During the past two decades synchrotron radiation has paved the way for the development of X-ray techniques, which operate under much more realistic in situ and operando conditions.

This Swedish-German workshop aims at being a showcase for the latest developments in the area, covering techniques in the entire photon energy range from vacuum ultraviolet to hard X-ray radiation. Even more importantly, the workshop should be a forum for the participating researchers to discuss synergies, complementarities, and new ideas.

Form of the Workshop

The workshop will feature invited talks and a poster session, and we would like to encourage in particular young scientists to register for a poster presentation.

Registration, Workshop Fees, and Accommodation

The workshop is free of charge and includes accommodation and meals. We can accommodate a limited number of participants only, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Register here.

Last day of registration is 5 September.
