The annual user meeting at MAX-lab will take place in Lund September 27-28 1999. The meeting starts Monday 27th at 12.00. During the year the spectroscopy beamlines at MAX II have become fully operational and the meeting will cover SR-based spectroscopy on third generation facilities. A special miniconference covering SR based IR spectroscopy will be organized on Tuesday 28. Invited talks will review the prospects of VUV and X-ray spectroscopy in the new millenium. As usual highlights from the research at MAX during the last year will be given and the Director and Coordinator will give their annual reports. Prof. Gwyn P. Williams from Brookhaven National laboratory will give a review of synchrotron radiation based IR research.

A poster session where results at MAX from the last year will be presented will be organized. In connection to this poster session there will be an exhibition from commercial firms. The traditional conference dinner will take place on the evening of the first conference day.

The user meeting at MAX is open to interested participants, both individual researchers and commercial firms. More information will be found in the first circular that will be sent out in the beginning of June and also on the homepage of MAX-lab.
