Beamline I311, MAX-lab, Lund, Sweden

User support

During working hours, the first port of call is usually the beamline manager who is associated with the end station you're working on. It might, however, sometimes be desirable to speak to specific people (for electronics, safety, vacuum advice etc.) directly. For this the photo boards just outside the coffe room are a very useful aid to familiarise yourself with MAXlab's staff - and most of the phone numbers can then be found online here

Outside of working hours, please do not call the beamline managers unless you have agreed with him/her to do so. MAX-lab has a support system for users who need help and advise after working hours, during weekends and holidays. The support is mainly intended to help users with advise via telephone, but they will come to MAX-lab if the problem is urgent/difficult enough. The phone numbers for user and machine support can be found on the white board outside the coffee room (NOTE: they usually change on Mondays) and they are available:

Weekdays
• 17:00 - 23:00

Weekends and holidays
• 10:00 - 18:00

  • User Support. You call them if you need to get some advice or find equipment. You may get an answering machine. If so, leave a message including the beamline name or phone number (220115) and you will be contacted later, normally within half an hour.
  • Machine Operator. Call this number if you have questions regarding injection, electron beam stability, standing waves in the beam etc. Information regarding injection procedures can often also be found on the bulletin board outside of the lunchroom. At MAXII, one injection per day at 8 a.m. is the default.
  • On-call Technician. Telephone number: 0708 - 323 323. The on-call technician is mainly on duty to prevent damage to the accelerator systems. Call this number only when there are serious problems such as power outages and large cooling water leaks. If the automatic alarm system works as it is supposed to the on-call technician will have already been notified and should be at the lab within the hour.
  • Ambulance, fire department, police. Telephone number: (0) 112. Call this number in case of serious accidents. Call the on-call technician as well.
  • Securitas (University alarm central). Telephone number 220 700, in case of burglary etc.
