Beamline I4 - Short information

Beamline I4 is used for angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy on solids in the photon energy range 13 to 200 eV. The beamline is suited for measurements of both valence bands and shallow core levels. The experimental station includes an analyzer chamber with two electron energy analyzers and a sample preparation chamber as well as sample storage and sample introduction chambers.

Experimental station This is a commercial surface science system from VG Microtec. It consists of a preparation chamber, a sample storage chamber, a sample introduction chamber and an analyzer chamber. The preparation chamber is equipped with LEED, ion sputtering gun, gas-inlet system and a number of optional ports for user owned sample preparation accessories. The analyzer chamber is equipped with a goniometer mounted angular resolved electron energy analyzer (ARUPS10) as well as a PHOIBOS 100 mm CCD analyzer from SPECS. This analyzer has an ultimate resolution of 3 meV and can be operated in an angular dispersion mode.
