Beamline I1011 - Short information

Beamline I1011 is a soft X-ray beamline, covering the energy range 200 to 2000 eV. The source is an elliptically polarizing undulator, providing linearly and circularly polarized radiation. This makes magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) in absorption possible, in addition to photo absorption using linearly polarized light. The beamline is based on a collimated plane grating monochromator design. This beamline is currently in a build up phase and propsals should be discussed with the beamline manager before submitting them.

Experimental station

The end stations is mounted directly after the exit slit. There exists two end stations for the beamline. One experimental station provides an omnidirectional vector field with a magnitude of up to 0.4 T (long term goal 1T), intended for XMCD in the electron yield mode and soft X-ray scattering experiments. The chamber is rotatable around the X-ray propagation axis. The second end station is a UHV system with one preparation chamber equipped with a sputter gun and LEED with auxiliary ports for user supplied equipment, for example evaporators. The analysis chamber contain a pair of water cooled coils providing a field up to about 0.1 T. Measurements are conducted in electron yield mode.
