ACCELERATOR PHYSICS (5p)

A beam of charged particles propagates through the pure nothing of vacuum. It feels the fields from magnets and reacts to the electric fields in cavities. The beam bends, blows up, oscillates and radiates its energy in the form of light...

The course in acceleratorphysics goes deeper into the subject of accelerator physics. During the course you will elaborate on the theory of particle accelerators.

This course is given for PhD students in physics. It is given any time and is built around discussions with the teacher and individual studies.

Topics:
  • Charged particles in electromagnetic fields
  • Linear beam dynamics
  • Periodic focusing systems
  • Perturbations in beam dynamics
  • Charged Particle acceleration
Level: 60 p physics required which means
MNF: 60-80 point level in physics and for PhD students in physics.
LTH: Students in Teknisk fysik in year 3-5.

Time: Starting the year around. Selfstudies.

Application: Directly to the course manager.
