Overview

The new injector will consist of two linac sections placed where the Racetrack microtron now is housed. Each linac will deliver 125 MeV and by a recirculation system the beam passes twice through them gaining 4*125=500 MeV.

A 250 MeV beam will be extracted for injection into MAX I and the full 500 MeV beam will inject into both MAX II and MAX III directly.

The new storage ring MAX III is a 700 MeV electron storage ring which will be placed beside the MAX I ring. The circumference is 36 m and it will be able to house a number of beamlines based both on insertion devices and bending magnets. Experimental stations using synchrotron radiation both in the UV and IR are foreseen.
